Scale Model of The Access
10/13/09
Originally used as a visual component of the award winning weight machine concept called The Access, this 1/5 scale model now serves as a communication tool for potential investors and award competitions, and for generally gathering interest in the initiative for this design concept. In addition to Gold and People’s Choice awards, in 2007 The Access won Best in Show at the annual IDEA event sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek magazine. A student at the University of Cincinnati at the time, Ryan Eder, envisioned The Access as an exercise machine that accommodates both wheelchair bound and fully mobile people. The above photos show the model that was built by PriorityPrototypes and displayed in the IDEA award winner’s product gallery. Careful thought and meticulous detail were critical components in creating The Access model. And as always, our prototyping team took great care to ensure the model represented the concept as envisioned.
The Access model continues to be used as a tangible, 360º-view communication tool. And as a result of interest generated by The Access, Ryan has launched a new company, IncludeFitness, and his dream of actually producing The Access is becoming very real.
